What are the requirements to enroll?
- You must be a current member of the United State Personal Chef Association (USPCA).
- You must have completed the Culinary Business Academy testing series.
- You must have a completed a business plan.
- You must complete the CREW questionnaire (PDF).
How long is the class?
CREW is a 16 hour workshop conducted over a 2 day period.
CREW is presented in a classroom environment and will focus on business organization, marketing and advertising, telephone sales and techniques, in-home presentations, client retention, additional services and business organization. Each student will receive a workbook ideal for classroom notes and future reference. There will be kitchen-lab demonstrations to highlight expedited services. Kitchen-lab exercises will not extend more than 1 hour per day.
CREW will not cover basic business set-up, taxes, insurance, record keeping, freezing techniques, menu planning or culinary theory.
Where is the CREW training held?
CREW is offered at the Culinary Business Academy main campus in Rio Rancho, NM.
When is the CREW training held?
- Contact the Culinary Business Academy for exact workshop dates.
- Workshops are anticipated to be offered twice each year (spring and fall).
- Workshops are conducted over a Friday & Saturday period. The workshop runs from 8 AM - 5 PM.
What do you need to bring to CREW?
- Paper & pencil for important notes.
- Dress is casual and comfy.

What is included with the tuition?
- All text materials and instruction.
- Lunch is provided at the campus.
What is the class size?
- This special class is limited to 12 individuals, allowing each to get individualized attention.
- CREW requires a minimum enrollment of 5 students.
- In the event of a class not meeting minimum enrollment level, tuition will be refunded.
- The Culinary Business Academy will not be responsible for any charges, fees or penalties you may incur associated with the cancellation or change of travel or accommodation arrangements.
What do I get after finishing the class?
This program is for the individual serious about getting traction or re-starting a business after a break in service. No diploma or certificate is awarded upon completion. Attending the course will result in points awarded towards USPCA CPC certification or re-certification as an approved continuing education course.
What you actually “get” from the program is the knowledge and momentum to kick-start your own personal chef service. You will also have a fresh networking group to share future experiences with, plus follow-up instructor access. You will get instruction and attention to your own particular needs.
