Food Safety

The Culinary Business Academy highly recommends obtaining a Food Safety Certification. More and more localities require this training for anyone in the food handling and preparation industry.

Credentials demonstrate your commitment to excellence and professionalism. Holding a valid food handlers permit may not be a requirement in some areas, but having the credential is beneficial and increases the confidence your clients have in you as a professional Personal Chef.

Training

If you do not currently hold a Food Safety Certification, Serve Safe offers training in a variety of locations, as well as on-line. Canadian chefs may find training available in their area at the National Food Safety Training Program.

Re-Certification

While most certifications are good for five years, check the Health Department regulations for your area and the traing program you choose for specific re-certification requirements.
